Manitoba SIDS Awareness Campaign

Campaign to raise greater awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

In 2010, Little Black Bear & Associates was privileged to be part of a campaign to raise greater awareness of a very important issue in Manitoba known as SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. We worked specifically with the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs’ Strengthening Families Maternal Child Health program, First Nations & Inuit Health, and Vincent Design to develop a multifaceted approach to raising awareness.

This was accomplished through print media and radio ads; three posters and a series of radio ads were developed with the distinct themes: 1) Safe Sleep Environments, 2) Safe Room Temperature and Appropriate Dress, and; 3) Smoke Free Environments. The radio ads were created in 6 different languages – Cree, Ojibway, Dene, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and English. Thus far, the campaign has been conducted throughout Manitoba, however, we are gearing up to implement a national process in conjunction with the AMC once again. We are moving beyond print media to include a 30 – 60 second ad for television.
